this is similar to many reactionary stuff when Microsoft did something stupid and people were like »now everyone will move to Linux«, but... It was mostly powerusers and gamers from what I have seen. BFUs are used to be eating whatever MS serves them, big companies stayed mostly.

It somewhat happens more lately as we got
both FOSS non-enshittified alternative to Windows AND something that is viable to use for bigger groups of Windows users (e.g. MS Office is not that big deal as it used to, gaming on Linux is mostly all fine...).

NetBSD, sadly, ain't it. It took years for Linux to get where it is now and it required lot of funding and work.

Yea I myself try to stick to slop-free projects, but leaving some stuff like Linux is soemthing I probably won't be able to do in near future and likely it wouldn't be BSD.

It is hard for me even to leave systemd because of the engineering put to it for years even before slopcoding became a thing which currently is lacking in probably all alternatives.

Days where FOSS communities could build something from ground up and make it a big project (like GNU) are imo long gone. We are fucked.
