The overall point is that IPv6 was designed with widespread Internet connectivity in mind, IPv4 is a thing designed for 80s where something like home Internet user was basically nonexistent.

It is pointless to make self-hoster a special category. Internet democracy = everyone can self host without doing anything special.

@riverpunk @pojntfx there is more computers than 2³² also thinking IP address as individual thing is kinda IPv4 thinking. E.g. my servers get each a /64 and i use different IP address per service.

The point is there should be too much IP addresses so people don't have to worry about conserving and stuff. You are part of the internet.

And there is are also other improvements not only the size of address space. But i am too eepy and i hate typing on mobile keyboard maybe @ledoian could continue?

@pojntfx i mean, IPv6 is really important for at least some democratization of the internet. It makes hosting stuff at home easier. P2P stuff... Friends just running game servers to everybody. Problem is, damage has been done and centralization is hard to undo...
